Fun Tropical Fish Types

Fish are the best scenery for a boring aquarium. You can have beautiful plants, stones, etc within your aquarium, but without the different tropical fish types, your aquarium is dull. The fish that swim in your saltwater tank are what transform your tank aquarium from a boring old tank full of water and plants, and turn it into a true work of art. Before you stock your saltwater aquarium with fish, you need to know all about the different tropical fish types and how to care for them.

 

Tetras

 

Tetras are a very popular tropical fish that you can find in many saltwater aquariums. If you are a person who likes tropical fish types that are small you might want to consider getting some Tetras. When you are considering adding Tetras to your tropical fish tank make sure you buy several of the brightly colored fish because they prefer to live in schools. Tetras like to dart in and out of vegetation. Tetras are a tropical fish type that needs to be kept in an aquarium that is at least fifteen gallons and the water should be maintained 75-80 degrees.

 

Mollies

 

If you would like to eventually try your hand at breeding tropical fish types you might want to add some Mollies to your tank. Mollies are an excellent tropical fish type for a beginning breeder because they bear live young. One of the things you have to be careful of when you are raising Mollies is that the water is kept very clean. Mollies become very ill when their water is contaminated. With a life span of five years, Mollies are a very long living fish that will provide you with years of delight.

 

Puffer Fish

 

There isn’t a saltwater tank in the world that won’t benefit from having a Puffer Fish. These fascinating fish are fun to watch. When they feel threatened they can puff themselves up to three times their actual size. Be sure to note that some Puffer Fish become aggressive when they are kept together in a tank. When you add a Puffer Fish to your saltwater aquarium, you need to consider that Puffer fish are carnivorous. They will eat any crabs, snails and smaller fish that reside in your tank.

 

Angel Fish

 

A common tropical fish type is the Angelfish. Angelfish can be found in a variety of colors. When they are small Angelfish are a bit on the weak side. However, by the time they grow fully, the Angelfish has matured into a very strong fish. Angelfish are saltwater fish that like to live in a saltwater tank that has a capacity of at least thirty gallons.
